About This Project

The documentary about Kenny Scharf and the “Astro Cumulo Uber Express” was produced by Scott Woolley. Woolley, a filmmaker, was integral in capturing Scharf’s journey with the car and showcasing the vibrant, energetic world that Scharf inhabited. The documentary offered an intimate glimpse not only into Scharf’s creative process but also into the cultural context surrounding street art and its connection to popular culture during that time.

Woolley’s production helped bring Scharf’s vision to a broader audience, allowing viewers to experience the Cadillac as more than just a car, but as a symbol of Scharf’s artistic philosophy — a blend of outsider art, street culture, and a playful challenge to traditional notions of art spaces. Woolley brought in Lenny Wong to shoot this production, a very talented and well-known cinematographer.
